Bathurst 1000 Conclusion

Jason Richards caused the Safety Car with ten laps to go with steering problems, his team sent him back out, and he went into the wall with only two laps to go - Race Control said race on with local yellows!!

But at the end, Rick Kelly just didn't have enough to take the win. Craig Lowndes takes the chequered flag after seven hours of racing!

See you next year, I'm off for a nap!

RIP Peter Brock

LOL, well glad you loved Bathurst :)

Found your Blog by accident - liked your running commentary lol - so thought I'd make a comment.

As an aussie who has just watched our coverage live (7am to 5:30pm Sunday)- I can understand the buggered/need sleep bit - although I still have the Japanese GP replay to watch at 11pm LOL!

I have watched Bathurst since 1976 and have only missed 5 (I think, on both!) in some form or another.

Cut down versions into a 2 or 3hr block in the late 70's/early 80's. Live and in full in Aust since the mid 80's. Only day in the year I tell family/friends/foe's to "f**k off, I'm busy" :P

It's always a big weekend :) It's our Indy 500 or Le Mans 24hr to the US/Euro.

It's an amazing track. Open to the public some 350 days a year - I have driven it (9 laps) - TV does not do it justice. It's one hell of a Mountain!

Thanks for your RIP to Pete. It's nice to see he had an international following. He had a HUGE one here...

I got to talk to him a few times over the years - last time in 1999 for 45mins by phone while I was working in radio. And dyam he had a good memory for people, places & converstions. We would pickup where we were every 12mths....

He, I can tell you personally, was a really nice Guy. And talk - once you got PB going - jeeese he was hard to shut up lol. Loved Motorsport and loved life.

The last 10 laps of the race today - Brocky would have loved that!

Keep ya love for Bathurst Mate :)

Cheers

PS: we also have Practice Friday coverage (1-4pm) and Saturday (Noon to 5pm) - you think you had good coverage ( :P ) all broadcast on Network 10 Australia. 10 I think also supply you as the originating network. Unfortunatly, this is their last year - lost the contract after 10 years to our Chan 7 Network begining 2007. What will Chan 7 do? We will wait and see.
